Template:Tribe
placeholderwings (haha) belonging to Icy
permission for hybrids, animus, royalty
queen: Queen Velocity III
Appearance[]
sandwing like crest/fan on head and chest, usually very colorful. scales can be any color but typically very muted or dull. wings are average in proportion to their body and have feathers close to their wing arms (kinda like yi qi dinosaur??? will draw). feathers are very colorful and used as displays. also feather fan on their tails, also extremely colorful and shiny, can be fanned out and folded. feathers used to slow flight and for simple communication over distances ("Hey look over here, something important" basically). they take great pride in their feathers and spend a lot of time maintaining them, they take a while to grow back.
Abilities[]
Enhanced Eyesight[]
The PlaceholderWings can see better than other tribes due to their retina/cornea structure and large pupils, much like a hawk's eyes. Their eyes are extremely sensitive to physical trauma, and due to their complexity, are unlikely to heal properly. They have a second transparent eyelid to protect their eyes during flight.
Venomous Bite[]
The PlaceholderWings have a venomous bite. It is a hemotoxin that prevents blood clotting. It is not immediately fatal, but if not treated within a day or so, could cause hemorrhages, organ failure, and likely death. It is treated using several different antivenoms, including brightsting cactus.
Toxin Resistance[]
While they are not completely immune, PlaceholderWings are resistant to venoms and poisons. The effects are less severe and more easily fought off, and in more deadly cases, treatment can be given later and remain effective.

History[]
The Northern Island[]
Theoretically, share a sand/sky ancestor, migrated to a northern island and evolved differently. hunter-gatherer tribes that grew larger, eventually domesticating plants and animals. cities began warring and were on the verge of collapse
The First Queen[]
Queen Velocity I, a renowned military leader and flier, after a long campaign successfully united the territory under her rule. She had a son and daughter and passed on her title of queen to her daughter- also introduced animus magic to the royal bloodline
Moth's Rule[]
A century or so after Velocity I's death- Queen Moth. She's not great. Hunts down non-royal animus, effectively erasing it from the population except the royal family, sees them as a threat to her family. Moth's son, Stormcloud, is an animus. He overthrows her, sacrificing his life in the process. Dying gift of blessing the kingdom with animus magic again
Northern Island's Destruction[]
The island begins experiencing earthquakes, sinking into the sea. The tribe, suffering heavy losses in both life and infrastructure, evacuate to Pyrrhia. They show up at the start of the SandWing war.
Rebuilding On Pyrrhia[]
They settle on the southeastern "wing" of pyrrhia and quickly begin rebuilding. strategically ally with the skywings and mudwings, their neighbors. they assist the placeholderwings in rebuilding their kingdom- conditional though, they have to assist in the war effort
Present Day[]
Queen Velocity III- a mother and new grandmother, plans on peacefully giving up the throne to one of her children.
Culture and Society[]
The PlaceholderWings have a traditional monarchy, and while queens are more common, there is nothing preventing any other gender from becoming a ruler. The dragon(s) in charge have time dedicated to listening to citizens' complaints.
Value family ties a lot, whether chosen family or biological. Parents do strictly enforce societal rules (like basic etiquette) but also encourage self-expression- no reason to break up a family over ultimately inconsequential differences.
Military service is not required but all citizens must learn basic combat- protect both themselves and, in case of emergency, the tribe as a whole.
Public and homeschooling is also required, consisting of basic language, history, mathematics, etc. Nothing overly complicated but enough for dragons to figure out what they want to do.
Traditions[]
adopted skywing funeral concepts- deceased is wrapped in brightly colored cloth, usually handmade by the family and close friends. cloth has talonprints of them on it as a last goodbye/sendoff to the great beyond. body is burned and the funeral-goers are respectfully silent (spirit passes on). The most valued personal belongings of the deceased are placed on a shrine on top of where the bones are buried. Typically families are buried in close proximity to each other. bodies can be donated to science (relatively new idea), where torches are burned in place of a body, and a shrine is still constructed.
coronation of a ruler is basically a fancy party, a relatively quiet event actually for family, friends, and allies.
after a dragon lays eggs, theres basically a baby shower since they have a rough idea of how many dragonets they'll raise. twins are uncommon but not unheard of. hatching is a private event, dragonets need to grow in feathers. loss of downy feathers is seen as the dragon stepping into adulthood
