Institution for the Rehabilitation of Enhanced Dragons

A worldbuilding project by Wishbone. Please read all info before creating a character.

Our Mission
We dragons have done unpleasant things in the name of science. Immoral experiments on unsuspecting or uninformed dragons, even dragonets and eggs. Whether you like it or not, these experiments happened, and now we must deal with the consequences.

The results of these experiments are, in the end, individuals deserving of respect. Many are unable to properly integrate themselves into normal dragon society, and we are here to help them.

With our free, government and donation-funded program, we aim to create a utopia for enhanced or altered dragons where they can seek any mental or physical assistance they may require. It is important to note that we do not seek to take away the abilities of these dragons- merely help them understand and gain mastery of them. Ideally, these individuals will be able to live among the rest of dragonkind like they were born there.

Our Location
(map here maybe?)

Our facility is massive, located on Pyrrhia's stunning shore near Jade Mountain.

We begin with our lobby, designed for comfort and ease of access with automatic doors, comfortable seating, and plenty of snack options available. Our receptionists are CPR certified with extensive first-aid training, and our security guards make sure everyone can be safe.

Our medical wing is state-of-the-art. We invest in both upcoming and well-proven medicinal techniques for optimal treatment. Our staff come from a wide variety of universities across Pyrrhia and Pantala, bringing with them unique perspectives to better understand our clients. We also offer the best mental health services, with specialists for nearly every scenario.

Within our medical facility, we also have extensive genetic studies to better understand how each patient operates on the smallest level. This helps with medicine dosages, environment optimization, and ultimately rehabilitation.

Our patient quarters take up a large portion of the complex. Each room contains basic amenities, and can be customized to a patient's wants or needs. They are laid out similarly to a standard hotel, with biometric and/or ocular recognition locks for patient safety and privacy. Each room is equipped with an emergency call button in every room.

The patient quarters offer easy access to dining halls, a complete recreational facility (including an indoor pool), the atrium, and medical services.

The guest quarters are similar, and located in a separate building. Each room contains two beds, a television with a variety of available channels, and a full bathroom. Much like a standard hotel, the rooms are unlocked with a keycard. There are free meals provided three times per day (breakfast from 6:00-8:00, lunch from 11:00-1:00, and dinner from 4:00-6:00).

Staff quarters are similar to guest quarters and located on-site for emergencies.

Our atrium gardens are a favorite place for both patients and guests to socialize. Our plants are taken care of by patients themselves, as are the small shops located around the atrium. We feature cafes, salons, boutiques, and more, all run by former and current clients of IRED. Our atrium is climate controlled and covered with a reinforced glass ceiling, so it is pleasant even during harsh weather.

Our History
Our facility was founded at the beginning of the Pyrrhian-Pantalan technological revolution. When new technology develops, inevitably, individuals will want to use it for less than humane purposes. Thus, experimentation on dragons was sadly inevitable- laws took far longer to create as opposed to our scientific knowledge.

Scientifically enhanced dragons emerged slowly at first, to less than positive reception. Their abilities (usually not purposefully, though there are a few exceptions) resulted in fear and destruction.

Our founder and current president knew that something had to be done; someone needed to help these dragons. With degrees from Pyrrhia and Pantala's most esteemed universities, they put together a team of the best specialists to make the IRED facility.

It took two years to plan, and a further five to actually build. In that time, staff were hired and enhanced dragons were reached out to. Several spots were reserved for patients and the best scientific equipment was imported to the lab.

Since our facility is so new, there sadly isn't much history to note as of now. We hope to expand our legacy of good into the future- potentially even specialist locations across Pyrrhia and Pantala, and urgent care centers specializing in enhanced dragon care.

Our Rules
We operate compliant to medical privacy and mandated reporting laws- in short, anything disclosed to medical staff will not be published or reported, unless a dragon (patient or otherwise) is deemed to be a danger to themselves or someone else. For example, we will not disclose health conditions, but we are legally obligated to report genuine intents to harm.

Our staff are instructed to treat all patients with respect and listen to any concerns. Any staff caught in violation of this rule (abuse, neglect, sharing private information, etc.) will be fired and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

We are not a prison. If a patient wishes to leave at any time, or refuse medical care, we are obligated to listen unless the patient is of unsound mind and has a legally appointed representative.
