appearance
Spring is short with a long neck and large wings. Their scales are painted in various hues of muted peach and rosegold, like a cloudy sunset in early June. The darkest shades of pink run along the top of her head and her spine. Their palette gets lighter as it goes down; their underscales are a pale peachy cream, and the middle is a nice shade of rose in between. Her wings are brown at the base, but fade to pale peach at the tips. They have darker, spindly veins like leaves.
A beige SandWing sail with hints of pink runs along Spring's back, as well as a few random spikes from her SkyWing genes. Their horns are curvy and light brown in color, like milk chocolate. All of their spikes and claws are the same chocolaty color. At the end of their tail, Spring has a golden-orange, leaf-shaped blade.
Spring's eyes are soft gold, and she wears glasses with rose-colored lenses to aid her sight. They also like to wear jewelry, such as friendship bracelets, necklaces, and clip-on earrings (they're afraid of getting piercings). She is also often seen wearing hats, horn bands, and other fashionable headwear. In addition, Spring frequently doodles flowers and other things on their talons. Sometimes they'll write reminders for themself on their arm instead of writing it on a paper, so they know they can't lose it.
Spring struggles with comparing herself to others; especially her appearance. She's very self-conscious about her thick hind legs and face. She has pretty days, handsome days, and ugly days. Sometimes she can rock a dress, or a suit, and sometimes she can't stand to look in a mirror. It just depends on their mood. Perhaps they treat themself too harshly.
But regardless of how they feel, Spring can't change themself. They don't want to hide. If they show who they really are, maybe they'll come to terms with themself.
now trust me, let's run, step hard on it
break it down now
your ignorance gives me strength
i don't care, continue, keep going uh
personality
Spring is a sentimental, creative introvert. She's a daydreamer who often gets lost in music, nostalgia, and good book ideas. She'll lock herself in her room for hours, just thinking. Her parents always tell her to get he head out of the clouds, but she can't help it. Focusing is hard, and the real world is boring anyway.
Friends will come to Spring for advice, since they know they use both logic and emotion. Spring is like their friends' therapist. They'll listen intently, but only if you give them attention. They're a "No One Deserves My Respect Unless They Respect Me" sort of dragon, but they won't go out of their way to be mean.
Often times, Spring needs to be left alone. They have a very low social battery, and can become aggravated very easily. Even when it comes to their friend group, Spring gets tired of social interaction. They prefer to hang out with just one dragon, or just to be left alone. Parties give Spring migraines.
Spring lacks self-confidence due to body image, but she tries to distract herself from her insecurities with things she loves. Theatre is a huge part of Spring's life; all their worries melt away when they're in the spotlight, because she knows she was born to be on the stage.
Spring's teacher has told her that she has a way with words. Whether it's her humor or the lack of hesitation to speak her mind (perhaps both), Spring always has something to say. Humor? Spring knows that a simple joke can brighten up someone's day, so she tells jokes to brighten the mood. Speaking her mind? Spring wants her opinions to be heard. The world won't change, after all, if you stay silent.
Undoubtedly, Spring is a hardworker. They don't give up if it's something they truly have interest in. They can also be a bit of a perfectionist. If they're writing, they'll keep rewriting and rewriting until it's better than their last story. If they're drawing, they won't stop until every single line is flawless, and so on. If something isn't perfect to Spring, they'll fix it until it is.
One thing Spring isn't is a leader. She's not a follower, either. She works on her own terms. She's like a "Lone Wolf." But one thing Spring will always do is try her hardest to find good in things. A phoenix rises from the ashes, after all.
uh, it's because of confidence, you know why
blow up, bam bam bam bam
life's like a game
take it away, no backup
abilities & weaknesses
Spring inherited fire breath from her mother's SandWing/SkyWing genes. It is her only tribal ability; she didn't inherit any leafspeak from her father, even though she's tried to grow plants, they all end up dying. And unlike most LeafWings, Spring can't absorb energy from sunlight. They quite hate the sun, in fact.
In terms of talents, Spring is skilled at drawing. They love drawing flowers and different animals; sometimes even horror. They've also explored watercolor and calligraphy. So, art? Strength.
Another talent of Spring's is writing, which kind of goes talon-in-talon with art. They have a wild imagination that can pump out stories and poems like a factory. They love making comedy. Writing? Another strength.
And lastly, for talents, Spring is an amazing actress. She has several years of experience, and has never really gotten stage fright. Theatre has helped her become more confident and creative. Acting? Strength.
Some things Spring isn't good at include cooking and math. Meticulous, multi-step things are difficult for Spring since she often gets distracted, lost, confused, or all of those. Spring has a hard time reading and making sense of numbers and data in general. Numbers hurt Spring's brain. And cooking? Spring could set a salad on fire.
Spring also isn't physically strong. They can get bursts of energy, like a cheetah, but they run out fast and take a long time to recover from. Despite Spring's SkyWing genes, they can't fly for long distances without running out of breath. They have constant muscle aches and doesn't like to move sometimes.
Spring enjoys the things she's good at, and wants to improve upon the things she struggles with, though it is difficult. Like her theatre teacher always told her, "Practice makes permanent."
trust me, i'm the leader
put your hands up, keep your head up
up there, i can treat you better
heart is burning, it's a lot hotter
history
Spring's parents are Verdin, a SkyWing/SandWing hybrid, and Spruce, a LeafWing. Verdin migrated to Pantala after she divorced her ex-husband and wanted to start a new life. She settled in the small central town of Sunleaf.
Spruce was working two part-time jobs in the next town over, and happened to share some friends with Verdin. The two got set up on a blind date, and the rest is history.
Two years after Spruce and Verdin were married, their second dragonet was born. They named her Spring, because she reminded Verdin of a pretty spring sunset. Their first dragonet, Heron, had died shortly after he hatched.
Spring was well-behaved as a young dragonet, as her father says. But happy? Not for long. Verdin fell ill before Spring hatched, and died before her first hatchday. Spruce became depressed, and Spring learned what it was like to grow up lonely.
After Spring became accustomed to having no friends to play with, and her father had recovered from his long struggle with depression, he started dating an IceWing named Fryse, who had a daughter of her own named Yeti. Now Spring wouldn't be lonely.
But not everyone was fond of Spruce and Fryse. Spruce's mother and Spring's grandmother, Venus, hated Fryse. She manipulated Spring to hate her and tell her everything she said and did. And it worked. Almost. Until Venus yelled at Spruce one day, who was in tears, awful things about Verdin. That's when Spring knew she couldn't trust her grandmother.
Around this time, Spring started doing theatre. She could make lasting friends, and she knew the stage was right for her. As a dragonet she had seen a play with her mother and ran up onstage after the performance. She wanted to be in the spotlight.

trivia
- The original idea for Spring was to have a cute little character for my YouTube channel, Dreaming of Spring, instead of showing my face. Spring is named after my channel, and her palette was inspired by my layout. My channel was named after the song 'Spring' by MCND, which is the first song in this character's playlist!
