appearance

Dizzara is a tall, lanky RainWing. She is quite frail and appears to be weak, but this is far from the truth. Her snout is long and hooked, and her tail is also long and thin. Dizzy's wings are on the smaller side, and look a bit awkward on her body. They are much better for gliding rather than long-distance flying.

The advocate has narrow horns that curve in all different directions, like spindly tree branches, bare in the middle of a cold winter. Her claws are short and curved like a panther's. Dizzy's ruff is large, making her look a bit like a cobra.

~

Dizzara has pale rose main scales. Her top scales are a rich, darker shade of pink. Her face, neck, and talons are speckled with flecks of light red, rosegold, and violet, like splatters of watercolor. Dizzy's neck/tail spots are dark violet and pop out against the other colors.

Dizzy's wings are golden-yellow that fade to light orange at the tips. She's been told they look like a pretty sunset, but she likes to think they look like ripe mangoes. She loves mangoes.

Dizzy's under scales are pale marigold, complimenting her wings. Her claws, horns, and spikes are varying royal purple. The horns are the darkest; they are closer to black. The dragoness's eyes are bright emerald green like palm leaves in the sunlight.

~

Dizzy wears iron gloves and leg armor, since the scales on her limbs are thin due to unhealthiness. She also thinks they compliment her horns. The advocate also has rose-colored goggles, not to aid her sight, but rather to be a symbol of Perfect Happiness.

personality

All of the quotes in this section are from Dizzy, meant to illustrate her persona.

Dizzara is a maniac that hides behind a mask of friendliness. She wants everyone to live in her vision of Perfect Happiness, and she's not afraid to use violence against those who oppose her. She doesn't have many redeeming qualities, and all the ones she has tie together with her negative aspects. But let's explore her character, shall we?

On the outside, Dizzy seems sweet and kind, though a bit annoying. She acts bubbly around strangers, but in actuality she's trying to manipulate them into getting corrected. "Kindness is the key to friendship, and friendship is the key to getting someone to do your bidding."

Dizzy is a hardworker. She is determined to reach her goals and won't stop and give up. However, she can often become obsessive. She'll dedicate her entire being to making her daydreams a perfect reality. One tiny mistake, to Dizzy, messes everything up. She knows the world needs a lot of fixing, and she spends much of her time being paranoid about the sorrows of reality. "We must achieve Perfect Happiness. The world will be corrupt until everyone accepts the truth."

"You never let me live my life. Now, what will you do, die without me?" Dizzy never had independence as a dragonet, so naturally, she's rebellious and independent as a young adult. She doesn't accept any authority figures; she talks to everyone as if they are her peers. Kings? Queens? Government? They have no power over Dizzy. Luckily, she can work independently as a Smiling Advocate, and she's grateful for that.

"Those who fragment Perfect Happiness must be eliminated."

abilities & weaknesses

Dizzy is an expert at faking personalities, manipulation, disguise, and sneaking around. They all go talon-in-talon, and she uses these skills to recruit advocates. Her color-changing scales make going undercover quite easy, as well as sneaking around, since she can go invisible.

On top of this, Dizzara is good at offensive attacks. However, her defense isn't as great since she's so frail. Her armor helps, though. She doesn't like to use violence until she absolutely has to; she's much better at arguments.

Perhaps Dizzy's biggest weakness is normal socialization. She never had proper interaction with anyone as a child, so her social skills are terrible.

history

Dizzy's mother was a RainWing named Aegithina. Before Dizzy hatched, her father, Amaryllis, left them and never came back. "I need time for myself. I'm not going to live with someone who doesn't respect that." Aegithina became depressed and started drinking. Now her daughter was the only family she had left, and she had to hold onto her.

As soon as Dizzy hatched, she was never let out of Mother's sight. "I can't trust her if I leave her alone. What if she leaves me, too?" For the first few years of her life, Dizzy never left the house except to play in the garden. She never even realized there was a world beyond, until one day she asked her mother:

"Mommy? How big is the world? Are there magic lands far away from here?"

"The world is a very big place. It's also a dangerous place. Trust no one."

The first time Dizzy ever left the house was to go to the market. They had self-sustained themselves with the garden for as long as she could remember, but the river was drying up, and so were the crops. Mother said she knew the market owner, but how? She never left Dizzy's side. But then again, you can't grow bottles of alcohol...

Mother always became furious with Dizzy over the tiniest mistakes. "I DON'T WANT A DRAGONET WHO ISN'T PERFECT!" This was the normal for Dizzy. Constant screaming, but never being left alone. Forced to stay next to the dragon who had just called her a disgrace. Every day, she lived like this. But she didn't enjoy it. She might not remember everything hurtful Mother said to her, but she remembers how it made her feel.

It was during that trip to the market that Dizzy found a book: The Dragonets of Destiny. It sounded mildly interesting, so she smuggled it home. She knew Mother would become angry if she asked for her to pay for it; as she had said before, "Greedy dragonets get nowhere in life."

One thing from the book stood out to Dizzy: freedom. How the Dragonets escaped their guardians and could fly around without a care in the world. And they fought for what they believed in; they weren't afraid to speak their minds. The stood up to literal queens and won in the end. That's when Dizzy realized she wasn't free.

Whenever they went on trips to the market, Dizzy would steal books and read. That's how she peered into the real world. But there was one fateful day that was different from the other trips. She heard a voice over the radio: "Do you want to experience pure happiness? Do you want to be free from the shackles of sorrow and sadness? Come visit the Sanctuary today to get corrected!"

Pure happiness sounded nice, and freedom automatically appealed to Dizzy. She snuck off in the direction of the radio as Mother was talking to the owner of the market; the only thing that seemed to distract her from keeping an all-seeing eye on Dizzy. She found a stack of papers that said "THE SANCTUARY" in big, bold letters. Below it gave the address. She shoved it in the fold of her wing and quickly went back to Mother. She was going to be free, she just needed a plan to get away.

Strangely, Dizzy's mother hadn't been quite as watchful as she normally was; perhaps the market dragon was loosening her up, or maybe she was just starting to care a bit too much about her alcohol to care about her daughter. Dizzy didn't care; Mother had never been good to her anyway. She could drink all the alcohol she wanted. This was just an opportunity to plan and sneak away.

Dizzy spent the next week or so making an escape plan. She wrote in tiny print in the back cover of one of the books she'd stolen and drew diagrams on random pages. She'd hide the book under her mattress for good measure; the book itself would make Mother suspicious. After pulling a few all-nighters and staying up late regardless, Dizzy had her plan:

Midnight, wake up. It's go-time. Grab your pack: knife, bread, Map of Pyrrhia, Sanctuary poster. Sneak out into the living room while Mother is sleeping, make sure to be quiet as a mouse. DO NOT AWAKEN HER. Crawl out through the window, be careful not to step on leaves or twigs. Climb into the treetops as fast as possible, do not let anyone see you. Glide across the branches and stay far from the ground. Follow Map of Pyrrhia to the Sanctuary. Correction awaits.

Two days. It took Dizzy two days and three hours of sleep to make it to the Sanctuary. She knew now that her future was bright, but she passed out from exhaustion before she could even walk through the doors.

Dizzy awoke in a strange room painted in swirls of bright yellow, black, and white. She examined the strange room; was this place weird, or was her house just boring? After a little while, a dragon wearing a white labcoat came in. He was definitely from a different tribe, perhaps a hybrid. Dizzy couldn't tell; she wasn't familiar enough with the different tribes to tell, but he had large, round, green wings and a flat snout.

The dragon explained that the Sanctuary had taken her in since she passed out; they figured she must be desperate. He also asked her a few questions: What is your name? Did you come here to get corrected? Why? He took notes of her answers. "All set, I'll send this to my boss. In the meantime, you're ready for correction."

Dizzy cannot recount much from her correction, but a clear picture of purple smoke is still ingrained into her memory... Some sort of drug. She felt happy and free after her correction, and she stayed in one of the Sanctuary dorms for awhile after since she didn't know where to go. But there was a voice in the back of her head that kept repeating, "You have fixed yourself, now go fix the world."

Several months passed. Dizzy learned more about the Sanctuary's history, and its founder, the Smiler. She admired the Smiler for wanting to make people happy; he was a hero. That's when she knew exactly what to do: spread the word about the Sanctuary. The voice in the back of her head had won her over.

Her first destination was Sparklet. It's one of the largest cities in Pyrrhia, if I can convince them to get corrected I can convince the entire continent!

Let's just say that the ways Dizzy advertized the Sanctuary were... questionable. She would take on new identities by changing her scales (being a RainWing can come in handy) and wearing different clothes. Her signature were custom-made cloaks; she was grateful for her mother because of one thing: she had taught her how to sew. However the true questionable part of her advertizing wasn't about how she presented herself, it was how she advertized. She would drop Sanctuary posters into dragons' chimneys; jump out from alleys, acquaint dragons, and cleverly change the subject to correction; make Sanctuary graffiti; create propagandic television commercials; vandalize cereal boxes with drawings of the Smiler; and other strange things.

Over time, as she realized that her odd tactics weren't working as well as she wanted them to, Dizzy became paranoid and angry. Her internal voice kept making more extreme requests, and she did its bidding. Threaten them suffering if they don't get corrected. They're doomed to live a life of misery and sadness. No one must fracture Perfect Happiness. Eliminate those who refuse joy. Show no mercy to the traitors of paradise.

Dizzy became a violent shell of a dragon; she became the mindless servant of a voice with no speaker. If the voice told her to kill someone, she would for the sake of preserving Perfect Happiness.

So what is "Perfect Happiness," anyway? According to Dizzy, or rather the voice: "A world where everyone is happy. There is nothing to be sad about: no war, no abuse, no alcohol, and no bullying. Just pure peace where everyone can be happy. When someone dies, they are not mourned, they are celebrated for the life they lived. In a perfectly happy world, there is nothing to mourn."

There is not much to add to Dizzy's story from here. She still roams the streets of Sparklet, trying to recruit new advocates and doing the bidding of the voice.

~

After Dizzy left home, Aegithina fell into a deep state of depression. She lost her life to suicide, and not until two weeks later was she discovered by the market dragon. She was buried in the garden, her favorite place.

What Dizzy never knew is that Aegithina had an abusive mother, too. She dealt with the same kinds of abuse that she let out on Dizzy; she was never taught kindness. Unlike with Dizzy, however, she was often left alone, neglected. This is how she developed attachment issues. Was Aegithina in any means good? No. She will be judged accordingly for her wickedness. But the question must be asked: Would she have been abusive if her mother hadn't abused her?

Amaryllis ended up marrying a MudWing named Gallinule who had a son of her own named Raccoon. Was Amaryllis right for leaving Aegithina? What would have happened if he had taken Dizzy with him? Once again, there are many alternate endings to this tale. Interpret and ponder it the way you like.

relationships

| AEGITHINA.
mother, negative.
Dizzy hates her mother. She blames her for all of her problems and will never forgive her for not allowing her to live normally. As far as Dizzy knows, Aegithina is still alive and breathing.

| AMARYLLIS.
father, neutral.
Dizzy doesn't know how to feel about her father. Mother always cursed his name, but she's a liar, so Dizzy doesn't know if she can trust her. She doesn't blame him for leaving her. But she also wishes she had raised her; perhaps she would've lived a normal life.

| LAPPET.
the market dragon, negative.
Though probably unfairly, Dizzy sees Lappet as an enemy since they were friends with Mother. Their aura always seemed very suspicious; they were like the calm before the storm, but Dizzy never saw the "storm" happen.

| HOGWEED.
the labcoat dragon, positive.
Dizzy doesn't know Hogweed very well, but she is fond of him. He was the one who approved her correction, and she still sees him in the hallways of the Sanctuary from time to time.

| THE SMILER.
inspiration, positive.
Dizzy looks up to the Smiler as her hero. He helped so many dragons achieve happiness through correction, and she admires him for that. He's the reason she promotes correction; they both want Perfect Happiness.

trivia

  • She is part of TSAU.
  • Dizzy is inspired by my first OC ever, who happened to be named Dizzara and had the same color palette. The original Dizzara was a unicorn superhero who could defeat villains by making them dizzy. I created her when I was about four or five.
  • The rose-colored goggles' symbolism of Perfect Happiness is inspired by the saying "to see the world through rose-colored glasses," which means to be optimistic.
  • I may create an alternate universe version of her exploring the alternate ending if she was raised by her father. But you'll just have to wait and see. *wink*
  • I still don't really know how to incorporate the leg armor into her history, I just think is looks cool.
